Receives FCC ID for 220 MHz Model 2288

(Santa Clara CA) - Alligator Communications has been granted FCC ID JIL2288 for its Model 2288 SCADA radio for 220 MHz.

The Model 2288 is another addition to the new line of Alligator SCADA radios that feature frequency agility, IP Ethernet and RS-232 concurrent interface, remote diagnostics, automatic frequency calibration to a common time base, Telnet network management, robust 4GFSK modulation, AES-256 encryption, and protocol transparency.

2288 covers all bands of frequencies in the 215-240 MHz range, normally referred to as 220 MHz. Bandwidths of 5, 6.25, 12.5, 25 or 50 kHz are available, depending upon band segment. One single unit can be user-configured as remote, master, or repeater. This conserves spares and gr improves field flexibility.

Alligator SCADA radios are used throughout the electrical generation, transmission and distribution industry as well as petrochemical, water, railroad, and other utility applications.

PRESS RELEASE

Alligator Communications Announces Low-Cost Store-and-Forward Repeater Mode for Model 2888E

(Santa Clara CA) - Alligator Communications has added a new low-cost repeater mode to their Model 2888E Ethernet/RS-232 radios.  The Model 2888E has four modes of operation: Master (standard), Master (in a system with a Repeater), Repeater, and Remote. In Repeater mode, it stores and forwards messages using time division multiplexing to eliminate the need for expensive diplex filters.  It permits single or dual frequency operation in licensed SCADA frequency bands, and one unit backs up all four modes of operation.

With increasing threats of data security breaches for the SCADA community, Alligator’s Model 2888E IP/RS232 radios also incorporate individualized AES256 encryption, MAC address filtering, prioritization of data transmission, SHA256 key hash algorithm, automatic QOS (Quality of Service), and SNMP or Telnet network management.

In a SCADA system the Model 2888E can handle both Ethernet and RS232 serial data and diagnostic transmission concurrently in a single unit that saves valuable rack space. Data transmission is protocol transparent. Like previous Alligator models, the 2888E features Automatic Global Frequency Calibration (AGFC), Automatic Deviation Control (ADC), and Automatic Level Control (ALC).

Alligator SCADA radios are used throughout the electrical generation, transmission and distribution industry as well as petrochemical, water, railroad, and other utility applications.

History

Company Background

Alligator Communications, Inc. is a privately held U.S. corporation founded in 1991 and based in Santa Clara, California. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, we are an original equipment manufacturer of FCC-approved UHF and microwave licensed radios for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint data communications applications. The primary application is for private SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) radio networks for utility companies, municipalities, railroads, petrochemical, and transportation industries. Our equipment is used around the world in many water, gas, and electric utility applications.

Our charter is to provide our customers with rugged communications equipment that lasts for decades at competitive prices.  Our engineers use state-of-the art technology to provide high system availability under hostile environmental and noise conditions. Alligator products have a proven record of reliability in the utility industry.

As an industry leader in RF,  digital and software design, Alligator is extremely responsive to user requirements and system improvements based on customer requests.

Development Highlights

Our Best Selling Products

The Model 1800 is a fully redundant master radio used in MAS (Multiple Address System) SCADA systems and is designed for robust operation in mission critical applications. It is protocol transparent and has both IP and RS-232 interfaces that can run concurrently. Frequency agility permits selection of a wide range of channel selections. Automatic calibration maintains all remote radios on frequency. The Model 1800 easily operates with other legacy radio systems sharing the same antenna to allow a smooth transition for system upgrades.

The Model 1800 is available in a fully redundant configuration with A/B transmitter, receiver, and power supply modules. Transmitters may be cycled on a customer-determined schedule to insure that back up capability is always available.

Model 1800 Master Radio

Model 2888 Radio

The Model 2888E is a rugged radio transceiver that can be configured as a master, remote, or repeater. It operates in extreme environmental conditions with robust immunity to high noise conditions.  It is protocol transparent with dual interfaces for concurrent operation of both IP and RS-232 serial data formats.  Automatic frequency tracking keeps the radio on frequency for high system availability.

Alligator radios are FCC and Industry Canada certified for licensed, fixed microwave systems. Designs are engineered for ease of set up, operation and maintenance to reduce field trips. Software-driven diagnostics reduce maintenance downtime.Global frequency calibration to eliminate calibration of spare units.

Automatic deviation control compensates for sudden and long-term variations. Automatic level control, event counters, alarm limits and status flags assist to optimize performance and alert personnel to potential problems.

Model QS1 1.4 GHz Radio

2888_QS1.jpg
